After a year of focused hard work combining his busy job as Operations Manager for Safeguard Helideck Certification and Safeguard Vertiports, alongside his studies with the CMI, Chris Wood has now been awarded Chartered Manager (CMgr) status.  This award recognises the experience Chris has from his previous career of 15 years in the Royal Navy as Aircrew and his work over the past six years to establish and grow the Helideck and Vertiports side of Safeguard Engineering Limited’s (SEL) business. 

SEL encourages all staff to have professional memberships and works with them to progress their studies and gain accreditation.  Chris has worked over the last 12 months with a CMI assessor submitting written documentation on leadership and management, completed a written application explaining why he should be considered and conducted several long telephone interviews with an assessment team. 

Commenting on his recent award Chris said:

“It was a welcome relief that after 12 months of working towards this, I received the email to say that my application for Charted Manager Status had been accepted.  I am very happy to have been awarded this, and I am extremely grateful to the company for supporting me on this journey. It is a huge personal achievement for me.”

In addition to his job and studies Chris has also managed to contribute time and energy to Falmouth United Football Club where he is Vice Chair, but soon to take over the Chairmanship. He has successfully managed the club to a new level of strength and optimism thanks to his charismatic and influential style of leadership.
